We were able to enjoy the first half of our break because we went to Utah and just hung out by our pool when we got back. We went out to Gilbert, AZ. on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to stay at my sister's house bc all of my family was in town to celebrate the holiday at her house. My niece, Jaisa, started throwing up on Wed (late morning) and then dane started throwing up around 2 or 2:30pm on wed. Jaisa stopped throwing up a couple of hours later and Dane was just getting worse and worse.
Later that evening I called the pediatrician's office and they told me to take him to urgent care. I got to urgent care where we waited and waited while Dane continued to throw up in the wating room. After seeing the Dr. he told us to head over to the E.R. We went to the E.R. at the nearest hospital and waited and waited and then finally were called back. Dane was limp as a rag doll and did not even flinch at them checking his ears, pushing on his tummy, or shoving the thermometer up his you know what. Dane was then taken to another room where the nurse shoved a catheder up him which did get quite a reaction out of him and then an IV was inserted. It was so hard for me to watch my little boy get poked and prodded like that..... Long story short... they thought the reason for his throwing up was a UTI so they admitted him, we were moved to another floor where Ryan and I shared a cot overnight only to be woken up every other hour by a nurse (who spoke broken English), my mom and dad came to visit and I went home with them to shower and take a nap while Ryan stayed and enjoyed eating Thanksgiving dinner at the hospital.
Dane was released (Thurs)Thanksgiving day at about 4pm. After being released from the hospital he still threw up a couple of times on fri and once on saturday, saw the Dr. once, called the triage nurses 3 times, at maybe a total of 9 oz the whole da (before throwing up), was told that his results now showed that he did not have uti and that it was just a really bad case of the flu. Sunday he did not throw up at all but then I started throwing up at 7am sharp just as he woke up ready to go for the day. Everyone is now back to being healthy and I pray that it will stay that way.
I am so grateful that we have our health and have realized that I take it for granted too often. I am grateful that Dane just had the flu and not a uti bc the Dr. informed me that would have meant surgery most likely. I am grateful for family, father's blessings, medecine, a roof over our head, an amazing husband who woke up early to take care of the baby while I was throwing up- went to school- came home for lunch to take care of the baby- went back to class- came home for dinner to take care of the baby- and went back to school to study some more- just so I could relax and take it easy....and I am grateful for all of the other blessings I recieve daily in my life.
Sorry for the cheese but I guess it takes a holiday season/hospital trip to realize how blessed I am.

Carlie, I was tearing up just reading this. I wish I would have known. It is impossible to be sick with a little one. The same thing happened to me a month or so ago. Girlfriend, I am so sorry! Poor little guy was in the hospital. Scary! Wish I could have helped you out.
Man, that sounds so scary. I am glad that everything turned out and that you guys are all feeling better.
