So I thought it would be cute to have Dane be a vampire for halloween bc he has soo much dark hair. I planned to slick his hair back and draw a little widows peak on his forehead but was kind of worried about how I would scrub it off after. I use thick hair paste on his hair usually to style it but his hair is soo fine that it still does not stay how I style it. I remembered my friend saying that she uses egg whites to make her hair look naturally curly and that it stays that way for days. If it worked for her hair than I thought for sure it would work for Danes. I decided to use egg whites and comb his hair forward so I wouldn't have to draw a widows peak because his bangs would be combed down his forehead to form the widows peak. well it worked well until he started having an allergic reaction and his face and neck started turning red with little rashes. After taking a couple of pictures of my cute little vampire I gave him a bath and washed out his hair. The rash seemed like it was still spreading so we made a trip to Albertsons to get something for it and ask the pharmacist what we should do. Anyways,....pharmacist said not to use anything on a baby this young, rash gradually got better, and went to ward trunk or treat without our costumes on. I have never felt sooo dumb. I know that babies can have allergies to eggs but I just assumed bc he was not eating them I had nothing to worry about bc I was only putting it in his hair. Ryan keeps reminding me how dumb that was and I know he is going to tell everyone what I did so I thought I would tell people first so I could justify myself.
Notice the rash on his forehead and cheek in the pictures below...poor boy!

Well he's still the cutest vampire ever! That's good to know about the egg whites! So does that mean he's allergic to eggs now? or was it just to harsh for his skin?
He is so stinking cute and I can't believe he is crawling!!! That's insane.
i don't know. the pharmacist said he might be allergic but i think that babies can outgrow allergies sometimes so i am praying he can bc eggs are in everything!!! i know that you are not supposed to give kids eggs, until about age 3 in case of allergies. eggs, wheat, and peanut butter/nuts are very very common allergy food for babies and kids.
the pictures are adorable....that's all that matters, right? i can see myself doing the EXACT same thing, so thanks for saving me the rash on my upcoming little girl...i can just see me wanting her hair curly and trying eggwhites too. you're a cute mommy!
Somehow I missed you at trunk or treat last night - too bad. It's comforting to know that Tienna wasn't the only one having issues with her costume though in our case she just didn't like it. At least he's a good sport about getting dressed up!
thanks Carlie for the comment on my blog...I think I'm going to have to cut back on my Sonic Girls nights....or not!! :)
He is so cute. I love the halloween costume. I would have done the same thing. I would never think that would happen.
K, first of all- where the heck have I been??? I check your blog for weeks and no update :) then my computer is down for two days and you have like 30 posts!!!!! Dane is the cutest!!! would not have known a thing about the allergic reaction either! Beauty is PAIN!!! :)
car that is too funny, but sad for poor Dane. ok i didnt know you're not supposed to give kids all that stuff until they are 3!! i have been feeding rylee all of that ever since she turned 1! i guess i should have been more careful with her considering my allergy history.
how has it been having a little crawler around the house? its so much fun to watch but oh man....its only the beginning....
he tries to crawl but does not actually make any progress. he just kicks and claws at the carpet with his hands while grunting. he gets so frustrated. once he gets the hang of it i better watch out!
OHhhh he looks so cute, though. I have totally had a moment like this. I couldn't find baby spf sunblock so I put regular sunblock on my little Lilly and she was rubbing her eyes and got a red rash all over. It's hard being 1st time Mommies some times. I think all Moms do stuff like this.
