My Baby Turned One!!

My little Johnny had his first birthday yesterday. I CANNOT believe how fast this year has flown by.

My cute boys just days after Johnny was born. I can't believe how little they both were.
Ryan getting some board studying in:) This picture make me smile...
Doing what we do best, hanging out at the pool:)

My BIG one year old!

Looking for his next meal. He is always trying to sneak food out of the garbage and when I catch him he squeals and tries even harder while giggling.

Johnny is a little climber. He climbs onto the chair and couch and can climb down the right way. My biggest pet peeve right now is when he climbs on the chair and either wipes all of my stuff off of the counter or climbs onto the counter and hangs over the kitchen sink to play in the water. I swear he has no fear! Everyday I think I suffer from at least one minor heart attack bc of this boy and his stunts.

Johnny getting ready to blow out his giant cupcake candle. Pure Excitement on this face.

No surprise that he dug in right away and Dane was right there to help:)

Now getting 2 fists into the action...

Pure joy at what we are allowing him to do and maybe the sugar is starting to kick in...
I ran to the bathtub with cake dripping off of Johnny and when he got in the tub I noticed he was fishing for the bigger pieces of cake that were floating in the water and eating them. They were sooo soggy but that wasn't stopping him.

Johnny loves his present. Too bad Dane is always hogging it and won't ever let him have a turn!
Other things that Johnny is up to these days:
-He is now walking up to 6-7 steps at a time but chooses to crawl most of the time
-CLIMBS EVERYTHING
-Loves to clap
-LOVES to dance. He will be half way out of the room and if we turn on music he stops dead in his tracks and starts dancing:)
-He enjoys eating....everything!
-He has 2 teeth and 2 more are on their way in
-loves to give open-mouthed kisses
AND....
-LOVES Dane

Funny conversations over the past week

A couple of days ago Dane was pretending to be a rocket. He was standing on the arm of the couch and instead of saying "5-4-3-2-1 blast off" he would say "1-2-3-4-5-6-7 Blast off!" and then jump onto the couch. I told him that he needed to count backwards "Oh!" he said. So what did he do??? He got back on the arm of the couch, turned around so he was facing backwards and started counting to 7 again before jumping. He can always make me laugh:)

Ryan got me some of my favorite treats for mother's day and Dane has been sneaking my candy like crazy so I told him he can't have anymore unless I give it to him. He came up to me 2 days ago with a piece of candy and asked "Mom, can I borrow this?" So I asked what he was gonna do with it and he replied "just borrow it and eat it".

Yesterday Dane was watching a show, picked up the remote, turned off the T.V., and said...
"I turned off the T.V. because I want to talk to you"
me: "what do you want to talk about?"
Dane: "My friend Dad"
me: "what about him?"
Dane: "because he's lost" (with a really sad look on his face)
me: "he's lost?"
Dane: "Yeah because he's lost in the T.V."
me: "well maybe we should call for him to come out"
Dane: turned on the T.V. and yelled "Dad! Dad!" and then got distracted by the show and forgot about dad.

Dane always stands on top of our furniture like a superhero and yells "I'm king of the world!" well the other day we were on our way out the door to go to the pool and he stood at the top of our stairs and yelled "I'm king of New York!!" with his arms outstretched. Then he put his hands on his hips and exclaimed even louder "I'm king of New York everybody!" I think he stole that line from Madagascar but who knows... :)

Last week I was getting ready for the day and Dane came into my room and said
"Mom, will you do me a flavor?" yes-flavor not favor:)
me: "what do you need?"
Dane: "you get in the car, and I will get dressed and in the car"
me: " where are we going to go?"
Dane: "to Jason's because I love Jason" -Jason is his 3 year-old cousin in Gilbert.

All Clean:)

After going to the pool the other day, I had Dane jump in the shower with Ryan so I could get dinner started. Well Dane brought his water guns in the shower to have a water gun fight with Ry and Johnny wanted to get in on the action....

so he did!
Johnny climbed straight under the stream of water and got drenched. His head wasa getting pounded on by the water and he could care less, he just kept playing with his eyes shut since he could not see a thing.
Dane thought it was the funniest thing in the world that Johnny climbed in the shower with his clothes on, which in turn, made Johnny think it was the funniest thing in the world. Man I love all of these boys!!

Dane's most recent fall...

The week of Dane's birthday we took the boys to Olive Garden (bc of my cravings for breadsticks drenched in alfredo sauce:) )and boy was that a mistake. Dane kept standing on his chair to reach for stuff on the table and hand crayons to Johnny who was across the table from him. We kept telling him to stop standing on the chair because it had wheels on it and it was dangerous.

Right when our food got to the table Dane stood up on his chair (one more time) to hand Johnny an olive and it did not end well. As he leaned forward his chair rolled out from under him, he flew face first into the table which made THE LOUDEST bang bc all of the plates jumped from how hard he hit the table, and then since the chair was not under him any more, after the nose dive he back flipped onto the floor. Before the crying everyone was looking at us because of the loud bang and then.....blood curdling screams came from under the table. Ryan hurry and pulled him up and we both saw blood everywhere. Ryan ran with him to the bathroom while I waited with Johnny wondering where the blood was coming from. Did he cut his face open? bite through his lip? knock teeth out? break his nose?....

Ryan came back a couple of minutes later and Dane was still shaken up and we could tell that all the blood was coming from his nose but we still have no idea if he broke his nose or not. It was so swollen and lop-sided for about a week but now is starting to look a little more normal. Hopefully he didn't break his nose and doesn't have issues with it later on.

My crooked nosed little boy. We had to remove his bloody shirt and bribe him with chocolate as you can see to take these pictures.
It was so sad because the whole way home from the restaurant he kept apologizing for standing on the chair and falling and hurting his nose. Deep down he is such a GOOD BOY:)

Look Who Just Turned 3!

My little Dane just turned 3 and he couldn't be more excited. I don't think he quite understands that his birthday is just one day since he has been spoiled the whole month. We spent 2 weeks visiting grandparents and cousins, he got a new bike, a bunch of new toys, we took him out to eat, we got pizza and had a movie party, went swimming, got lots of phone calls, had friends over for dinner on Sunday, balloons, and a giant BYU football ice cream cake.

Happy Birthday big guy:)

We are....

EXPECTING!

I am 13 weeks and ready to be feeling good again and hopefully get some more energy. The due date started out being Nov 9th but has now been moved up to Nov. 1st. We are so excited to be adding to our family. Yes, this means that this is my 2nd pregnancy within a year and Johnny is still under one. Oh boy, I'm in for it:)

Birthday Fun

Last month I celebrated my 2_ birthday:) Ryan took me to Benihanas. I LOVE THAT PLACE! As nice and relaxing as it was without kids, the whole time Ryan and I kept saying how much Dane would love watching them cook and the big "fire volcanos" that they would make. Maybe one day we will take him back there,....hmmm, probably not:) After dinner Ryan took me to this cool outdoor mall and let me get my shopping on. It was such a great birthday. Too bad I won't get spoiled like that for another year;)
And, THIS kid, WILL NOT let me rest! He is such a busy body/dare devil/mama's boy.
I put him in the chair to give him his bottle and within seconds he is either "scaling" the wall...
...climbing onto the top of this toy or diving onto the love sac.
Luckily Johnny is IN LOVE with his older brother too so they play pretty well for the most part. Whether Dane is nice to him or beating him down- he is giggling and loves any attention Dane will give him.

January 2010

Dane started potty training right after we got home from our trip to Utah for Christmas. I had been dreading this for sooo long! The first day he had so many accidents that we ran out of clean underwear... but then by the 3rd day he wasn't having accidents anymore:) Occasionally he still has an accident if he gets too caught up in playing or a show but that is VERY rare these days. He has done so well he even wakes up with a dry pull-up. Now the next step...losing the pull-up at night.

Here he is showing off his "big muscles" and new underwear that he actually managed to get on the right way. He feels the need to completely remove every article of clothing from the waiste down. That means shoes, socks, and his underwear! If his underwear is not on backwards or exposing exactly what it is meant to cover.. it is no where to be found bc he likes them in hopes that he can just run around naked.

Ta-Da! Johnny standing!
Dane's turn....

Dane insisted that Ryan had a turn next:)

Dane likes to think he is being helpful, like when he gets Johnny a toy...or all of his toys:)
I always find my baby buried in toys.

A couple of weeks ago we went swimming. Dane started swimming without floaties at the end of the summer so we wanted to see if he could still do it. HaHa..Nope, he can't... :)

On the 17th we celebrated Ryan's birthday. Here is the birthday boy ready for church.

Ryan requested his Aunt Joan's famous Texas Sheet Cake for his birthday cake. I thought for sure most of it would go to waste but we polished off that baby in only 2 days (with the help of some friends of course..) Man we're pathetic!

Ryan got a little help blowing out ALL of THOSE candles;)

I gave Dane a haircut and not one scream came out of his mouth or tear was shed, Probably bc he was to busy making ugly faces at himself in the mirror and destroying all of my Que-tips. "Whatever it takes"- as my sister, Lara, would say;)

Ryan just started his surgery rotation and decided it was time to shave his head since he would be leaving so early for work and did not want to have to wash and style his hair every morning (he leaves btwn 3 and 4a.m. every day). He handed Dane the clippers and let him do the honors. Dane shaved most of Ryan's head and then he let Ry shave his head. I went ahead and had him shave Johnny's head while they were at it. Now I live with a bunch of baldys.
Dane and Johnny after getting buzzed.

Also...Johnny started crawling. His main motivator was food of course. The first couple of days that he was crawling he looked like a little spider that had been sprayed by bug spray bc he had no control over the lower half of his body but now he is a pro! Dane is not a fan of Johnny being so mobile bc now he and his toys are constantly being attacked. Johnny will crawl up to where Dane is to steal his cars, G.I. Joes, and books or will grab onto Dane's pants or shirts trying to pull himself up onto his knees which usually just results Dane's pants being pulled down to the ground. Watching how these boys interact over the last couple of weeks has been so much fun. I love these guys:)

Pirate Island

While we were in Utah we met up with a bunch of friends at the coolest restaurant called Pirate Island. Everyone is dressed as pirates, there is a huge pirate ship themed play area, tons of token games everywhere. Dane loved it all since he thinks he is a real pirate.

The waiting area. I felt like we were at Disneyland waiting to get on a ride.

Straight off the bat Dane went and took control of the ship

The week of Christmas

We went to Utah for Christmas this year and spent it with the Skinner side of the family. We spent the first day playing and sledding at Ryan's sister, Linsey's home in Bountiful. It was so much fun to have a bunch of the kids together and watching Dane enjoy the snow so much. They have little snowmobiles that we got to ride on through their property and pull people on sleds that were attached to the back.

Dane and Cru ready to play
My niece, Ashlyn, took the boys on a sled ride behind the snowmobile and it had to be one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
Dane standing next to the BYU sign and so proud to be at his dad's FAVORITE school!
Had to get a picture next to the cougar:)
One of the days my parents called and said they wanted to come down and take us to breakfast. It was fun to get together with both of my parents, my sister, Lara, and my cute grandma.
Johnny with my mom and grandma.
Right when we got home from breakfast, Dane was walking up to the front porch at Ryan's house and slipped on a piece of ice and his face met the corner of the porch's tile step. Everything was COVERED in blood. He had a couple of huge gashes in the outside of his lip from the step and a huge gash on the inside of his lip from his teeth. It was so sad. This picture was taken after we cleaned it off for a while and he had a little while to calm down. His bottom and top lip were swollen and bruised too. So sad:(
Family picture right before everyone started showing up for the big family Christmas Party. Dane had so much fun running around with all of his cousins and was NOT happy that we made him stop for 2 minutes so we could take a picture. He has such a hard life...
